Workshops

Workshops and group meetings are conducted in a well set up room with lots of light, large tables, power dropped down from the ceiling and tea and coffee making readily available.

We have many classes. These have included beginners classes in Applique, Stained Glass and Foundation Piecing.

We conduct classes when teachers and numbers are available. A minimum of three is required for a class. Our class size never exceeds six. Half deposit is required to secure a booking.

Please see details below of classes offered in the coming months. These include some of our old faithfuls and some new classes. We are also starting a Wednesday afternoon class.

Drop in sessions

Drop in sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday. There is a small charge for attendance and a further charge if you bring a sewing machine.

Jane Groves Workshops

Held from 15th - 24th July.

To enable all attendees to get the most from these workshops it is assumed they will all know the basics of cutting and piecing etc. If you are not sure if you've reached this level it would be best if you have done an introductory patchwork class first.

Booking must be made and a deposit of 50% paid at the time of booking to seccure your placement in any of these workshops. Class signup ends a fortnight (example) in advance to class starting date. Class size will be strictly limited. All workshops cost $110 plus the cost any patterns, books and all materials required. Requirements lists will be provided once class is paid for. Kits may be available if you prefer, but must be requested early.

Panel Play Wall Hanging

Thursday 15th July.

Create a wall hanging with a difference. Processes include accuarcy of cutting and piecing. A good intermediate Quilt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Two Season Table Topper

Friday 16th July.

This design is a double sided log cabin quilt, small in size. Peicing and sandwiching and "quilt as you go" all in one process. Once mastered these techniques can be replicated to create larger quilt tops.

 


Trunk Show Talk

Saturday 17th July.

Trunk Show Talk - This is a free session provided by the shop for our customers (Will be repeated throughout the day).

Come and listen meet and talk with Jane.

Jane will talk about herself, her classes, quilts and experiences. Many of you will know Jane from her previous visits to QITTE. Jane teaches the use of Phaff and Husqvarna machines, plus sewing, patchwork and quilting in her Townsville Studio.

If you have problems with your sewing, patchwork, embroidery or machine she may be able to assist you.

 


In My Garden

Monday 19th July.

A Wallhanging with a difference. Processess includes foundation piecing, bias making, fabric folding and button application. An advanced wall hanging for those who desire a challenge.

 

 


Four-Colour Convergance

Thursday 22 July.

This Workshop produces an approx. 1.50 metre square quilt (top only). Using Ricky Timms techniques of strip piecing to create a contempary blending of fabrics. A good intermediate quilt (has taught this workshop priviously in Darwin). 

 

 


Contemporay Scrap Quilt

Saturday 24th July.

Size: 85cm x 1.10 metre. This quilt allows an interplay of fabric with a simple raw edge technique. Once mastered, these technique can be used to create larger quilt tops. A good beginer quilt, with a contempary twist. Little Patchwork Village Quilt

A deposit needs to be paid to secure a class booking.

This quilt can be embroided as redwork or any other colour you would like. Margaret will show you how to embroider your centre squares. You will then be show how to cut your fabric and piece your blocks before joining all together and adding borders for the quilt top.

A kit, as shown, is avaliable at additional cost.

Beginners Patchwork - Rectangular Pizzazz Quilt

A deposit needs to be paid to secure a class booking.

Deb will show you how to make the quilt shown using a design from the book Rectangular Pizzazz by Judy Sisneros Great for using larger scale prints and coordinates.

Cost $110 (Includes the book. If you already have the book class cost is reduced.)

Beginners Patchwork - 9 Patch Pizzazz Quilt

A deposit needs to be paid to secure a class booking.

This quilt is based on a basic 6 1/2 inch block or combination of the same. Debbie will show you how to make the quilt shown which is a design from the book 9 Patch Pizzazz by Judy Sisneros. Great for using larger scale prints and coordinates.

Cost $120 (Includes the book. If you already have the book class cost is reduced.)

Fabrics are an additional cost. Please ensure fabrics are purchased, washed and ironed prior to the class.

Bali Star

Bali Star is a new pattern we recently imported from Calico Carriage Quilts designer Debbie Maddie in the US.

Deb has made this small wall hanging measuring 36" square completed. No diamonds, no Y seams. Why not put 4 together?

Cost $80 (includes pattern)

School of Fish Templates

No class currently scheduled.

Please contact the shop (contact details provided by the link in the bookings section of this page) if you are interested in this class.

Julie Wilson will show you how to use EZ Quilting Tri Recs for those new to class and Tri Mate templates for the ongoing (as shown at the March 7 workshop). Once learnt you can go on to use these in your other projects.

Cost $50 (plus you will need to purchase the template set)
