Classes

Workshops

Workshops and group meetings are conducted in a well set up room with lots of light, large tables, power dropped down from the ceiling and tea and coffee making readily available.

We have many classes. These have included beginners classes in Applique, Stained Glass and Foundation Piecing.

We conduct classes when teachers and numbers are available. A minimum of three is required for a class. Our class size never exceeds six. Half deposit is required to secure a booking.

Please see details below of classes offered in the coming months. These include some of our old faithfuls and some new classes. We are also starting a Wednesday afternoon class.

Drop in sessions

Drop in sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday. There is a small charge for attendance and a further charge if you bring a sewing machine.

Jane Groves Workshops

19 July 2011 to 1 August 2011

Jane will returning to do more workshops on the above dates. We would like some feedback on the classes to be offered. Jane will be offering classes in sewing, embroidery machining and lace plus patchwork.

We will be undertaking a couple of sewing classes and one of these is refresher overlocker class.

Jane’s workshop on embroidered lace in the tropics will be offered this time as the weather is more conducive at this time of year. We are also looking at ascertaining interest in a softwear workshop for the embroiderers.

For the patchworkers the following are possible workshops.

Techniques workshop on different methods of joining pre quilted and quilt as you go blocks.

Using the 10 degree wedge ruler.

Reverse quilt as you go log cabin.

3D flowers Sturt Desert Pea or Sturt Desert Rose.

Placemats using the Sewing Revolution Double Mitre ruler.

Quilt as you go backpack.

Three flowers wall hanging, needle turn, trapunto, bias making.

To enable all attendees to get the most from these workshops it is assumed they will all know the basics of cutting and piecing etc. If you are not sure if you've reached this level it would be best if you have done an introductory patchwork class first.

Booking must be made and a deposit of 50% paid at the time of booking to secure your placement in any of these workshops.

Class signup ends a fortnight in advance to class starting date, if adequate numbers or interest is not received class will be cancelled and monies refunded. Class size will be strictly limited.

All workshops cost $110 plus the cost any patterns, books and all materials required. Requirements lists will be provided once class is paid for. Kits may be available if you prefer, but must be requested early.

Jane will be forwarding her sample quilts shortly for you to view in the shop or check out Jane's website.
